The Kikynthos shipwreck, located a few hundred meters from the village of Amaliapolis, is the only accessible underwater archaeological site for divers with an Open Water certification, provided they can control their buoyancy effectively. This shipwreck dates back to the Middle Byzantine period, sinking between the 11th and 12th centuries. It was a merchant vessel, and the area around the wreck consists of bricks and amphorae.

THE COAST

If there are non-divers in your group, they can spend their time in Amaliapolis, which has various shops, a beach, and a well-informed information center.

ENTRY TO THE SEA

Prepare your equipment, enter the sea, perform your final checks, and begin your descent.

THE DIVE

Discoveries start from a depth of 3 meters, with the maximum depth of the wreck being 15 meters. Maintain distances from the bricks and amphorae. Photography at all archaeological sites is allowed only for personal use.
