The site can be accessed by two points. From spring until early autumn when Rivera is open, you can park your car in the parking lot and thus you will combine the comforts of this beach bar, with your dive. The second access point is through the settlement of Kato Gatzea. This option is mandatory in winter and involves less carrying, but much more swimming. The choice is yours. However, we use Rivera whenever it is open and we will present our dive from this point.
THE COAST
The shore in front of the beach bar is rocky, but the carefully maintained wooden platforms and the natural shade make up for the lack of sandy beach.
ENTRY TO THE SEA
Get ready using the beach bar facilities and wear your equipment before entering the sea. Walk to the beach and go down from the right side of the platform that has a pier. The beach bar also offers water sports so respect the marked corridor and keep it in mind on your way out. Swim to the right of the buoys and after 10 meters dive having performed all necessary pre-dive checks.
THE DIVE
Dive and find in front of you large volumes of rocks that slowly form a wall. Follow the wall and observe in the crevices one of the liveliest reefs of Pagasetic Gulf since most of the time due to the operation of the beach bar there is no fishing activity. Approaching 30 meters the wall shrinks and gives way to beautiful single rocks that have plenty of vegetation, life and lost fishing gear. Usually, at this point you will reach a thermocline. Check your air tank; it is probably time to return. Follow the upper side of the wall, exploring the rocks. Every time you will discover something new.
